I have big dreams, but sometimes reality gets in the way. In order to counterbalance the times when I have to make compromises, I've chosen to supplement my efforts by supporting some great initiatives. Backing sustainable projects and brands can help speed up the transition to a more circular02 and ethical04 future.
We declare a climate emergency
UK-based design agency Leap has created this free downloadable logo to align declarations of climate emergency and provide a face to the voices of change. In their own words "Declaring an emergency is the first step, but it is the changes we make to reduce our carbon output that truly matter." As Hyphae I am proud to join their movement by displaying this logo and embedding sustainability at the core of my design initiative. It's going to be an ongoing process as change does not happen overnight, but I'm a firm believer that no change is too small.
Sustainable Web Manifesto
An initiative by London-based agency Wholegrain Digital, this manifesto is a public declaration of a shared commitment to create a sustainable internet. If you're wondering what this means, don't worry you're not alone. And that is part of the problem: most people are not aware of the impact the web has on the planet and, as a consequence, what can be done about it. The Sustainable Web Manifesto does a mighty good job of breaking it down into five key aspects. I invite everyone to join in this public declaration by signing the manifesto today, you'll be in great company!
The Planet Mark Start!
The Planet Mark supports businesses of all sizes to start sustainability programs or improve current sustainability performance thus disrupting traditional business frameworks. Back in October 2019 I had the opportunity to attend a workshop run by their experts. By delving deeper into key sustainability principles, I feel I've gained new insights on how to weave sustainability into business, be it my own or my clients'. I encourage you to check them out and perhaps attend a nearby workshop, it's worth it.
